The DayBeacon: Turning Awareness Into Action

WearIt. started as a way to create more awareness and start conversations around invisible challenges, but awareness alone isn’t enough.
The DayBeacon is the next step.
What is The DayBeacon?
The DayBeacon is an innovative, patented, in-development wearable and software platform designed to help students with invisible challenges navigate their school days with greater confidence, communication and support.
The DayBeacon is designed as a discreet, student-centered tool that supports self-awareness, communication, and proactive support throughout the school day. It’s built to help students signal how they’re doing, reflect on their needs, and feel more in control of their day, while also supporting collaboration with educators and parents/guardians.
By offering simple, real-time insight into how a student’s day is unfolding, The DayBeacon helps educators and parents/guardians respond earlier, reduce unnecessary stress, and create more proactive support in learning environments.
Why it matters:
Many students walk into classrooms carrying challenges that no one can see. They might have a rare disease, a chronic illness, or an invisible disability, and many times, a combination of all three.
For many students, school requires more than just academic effort. Managing energy, emotions, physical symptoms, or sensory input can take a significant toll—often silently. Without the right tools, students may struggle to communicate what they need in the moment, leading to stress, misunderstanding, or disengagement.
The DayBeacon is going to change that.
It helps students:
-Feel seen without having to ask
-Communicate needs discreetly and confidently
-Build self-advocacy skills over time
-Develop self-regulation in a way that feels safe and natural
And it helps adults:
-Be proactive in assisting students with their challenges instead of reacting to them
-Support students earlier and more effectively
-Create calmer, more predictable classroom experiences
How It Works:
The DayBeacon pairs a student-friendly wearable with a secure digital dashboard used by educators and parents/guardians.
Students can work on self-regulation or discreetly ask for help, allowing adults to better understand patterns, anticipate support needs, and respond thoughtfully without disruption or spotlighting the student.
The system is intentionally designed to be:
-Simple and unobtrusive
-Easy to integrate into real classrooms
-Focused on empowerment, not monitoring
From Lived Experience to Purposeful Design:
The DayBeacon was inspired by lived experience by navigating school days where needs were real, but not always visible.
It was designed with one core belief:
Students shouldn’t have to struggle silently or explain themselves just to receive support.
